"Understanding, Lyricism, & Freedom" Creative Writing Workshop Series, January 26th-February 16th
In this 4-part workshop series, we will utilize songwriting, lyricism, and other linguistic crafts to explore how to create more enjoyable, purposeful, and powerful writing experiences in our lives. Together, we will do guided writing exercises, discuss the music in our lives, and explore strategies for expressing ourselves powerfully through language. This workshop is ideal for young people interested in developing greater understandings of themselves as language artists (poets, MCs, writers, etc.) and learning to navigate the challenges they face when crafting language. It's also a great opportunity to meet and connect with other young people developing their written craft!
FEMpowered: Wednesdays, 4-5pm
FEMpowered aims to encourage, educate, and empower young creative fems (ages 14-20) in the Denver area. This community-oriented group provides free workshops on topics that are related to today’s current music industry, while also providing the space for young women to shape and pursue their own artistic visions.
Open Lab: Thursdays, 4-5:30pm
Open sessions for students to come and work on their projects, take lessons, and collaborate with other students. This program is any young person ages 14-20.
Music for Sanity's Sake: Fridays, 4-5pm
Connect around music that helps you make sense of your world. Learn free tools to support your creative path. Practice real ways to manage stress. Vent in a safe and welcoming space that doesn't need you to change to be heard. Meet other creative geniuses. We will be making music, looking at our favorite artists and exploring how music can (and does) help us stay sane! Facilitated by Bianca Mikahn.
Podcasting: February 21st & 28th, 1-3pm
Join Youth on Record for a two-day interactive podcast workshop where participants will develop the skills to pursue their own podcast and radio projects. Through a hands-on approach, we will explore a range of topics including technical production, storytelling, scriptwriting, vocal performance, editing, and uploading finished podcasts.
